This book builds upon an interdisciplinary cadre of feminist scholarship, taking ' bodily fluid' as the analytical lens to investigate how governance practices oppress certain bodies for the sake of others. It explores how global health issues not only affect minority groups, but how understandings of race, gender, sex and sexuality are (re)produced by healthcare policy. Approaching three security settings from this starting point reveals new knowledge about these places and how security governance operates there. By looking at health and security governance through the plasma of paid Mexicana/o donors in the US, the vomit of black Africans at the airport, and the semen of soldiers with genitourinary injuries, the book shows how security practices attempt to govern bodily fluids to affect an unequal distribution of life and death between various bodies. |
